About the Event
The Sri Lanka National Major Division Chess Championships 2025 is a prestigious event open to selected players from the Southern Province. This tournament is designed for ELO-rated players below 2000 (1700 for women) and those who have previously participated in Major Division, National B, or National A events. Compete for the title of Major Champion in the region, along with trophies, medals, and certificates for top performers.
Highlights
- Trophy & Medals: The winner will be crowned the Major Champion with a trophy, while the top three will receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.
- Certificates: Certificates will be awarded to the top 20 players, with additional certificates for every ten players beyond that.
- Selection Opportunity: Top performers will be considered for the Sri Lanka National Premier Division Chess Championships 2025 (formerly National B).
- Swiss System: The event will feature 7 to 9 rounds, depending on the number of participants.
